Suarez Linked As Ramsey Replacement
Arsenal have been offered Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez as the replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
Suarez in his second spell with the Catalan side after moving back to the Nou Camp in 2016 from Villareal. The 24-year-old has barely featured for Barca. He has only one eight-minute appearance for the side in La Liga along with two substitute appearances in the Champions League amounting to 24 minutes of action. However, he did appear in the two Copa del Rey matches against lower-league side Cultural de Leonesa scoring twice in the 4-1 second leg victory at the Nou Camp.
Reports claim he has now been offered to Arsenal boss Unai Emery. A member of the Barcelona hierarchy has indicated to Suarez’s representatives that he is free to leave and his agent has approached a number of clubs – including Arsenal – over a possible move.
Emery knows Suarez well and the two men worked together when Emery was manager there and Suarez was sent out on a season-long loan for the 2014-15 campaign. He played in 31 of Sevilla’s La Liga games that season with 16 starts and 15 appearances off the bench.
Suarez, who spent two years at Manchester City as a youngster, will cost Arsenal around €15million (£13.5million). However, the Gunners aren’t looking to do any deal in January. Any move will happen in the summer.
