Ajax Forward Coy Over Future
Manchester City transfer target Frenkie de Jong insists he will only entertain thoughts about a move at the end of the season.
Both City and Barcelona are being linked with the Ajax forward who is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young prospects.
But in an interview with The Guardian, de Jong said it isn’t a given that he will move on next summer.
“I want to finish this season well with Ajax,” he said. “Then we will see.
“Maybe I’ll stay for another year, maybe I’ll leave, but I am not sure.”
De Jong also claimed he could learn a lot from players at either of the clubs that are interested in him.
“I like to watch the great players, the ones who are technically good and understand the game. I try to see how they move,” he said.
“There are so many I look at, especially the midfielders. You have the guys from Barcelona, the guys from Manchester City. Jorginho at Chelsea now. There are so many to learn from.
“I love this style. Get the ball back quickly, then play possession with so many combinations. When you watch that, you get the feeling you want to go out on the pitch and play football with your friends and just enjoy yourself.
“City and Barcelona are great examples.”
