Arsenal Join Race For Brazilian Striker

Arsenal Scouts Watch Brazilian

Wesley Moraes Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal are tracking Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes.

The 22-year-old Brazilian moved to the Belgian club from Slovakian side Trencin in January 2016. He has scored seven goals in 15 appearances so far this season plus two in five in the Champions League including a strike against Thierry Henry’s Monaco. That followed just 19 goals in 69 league games in his first two-and-a-half seasons with the club.

The Sun claims that Arsenal could be ready with a £15million bid in next month’s transfer window and that Brugge could be tempted to cash in on the Brazilian.

But it isn’t known whether or not Moraes has an EU passport. He hasn’t represented Brazil internationally at any level meaning his eligibility for an EU work permit would be down to the size of the transfer fee.

Arsenal director of football Raul Sanllehi has already ruled out signing any new players in January so a move next month appears to be unlikely.

Moraes has a contract with Brugge that runs to 2023. Fiorentina and Valencia are also interested.
