Napoli Want To Remove Release Clause
Liverpool transfer target Piotr Zielinski is in talks over a new contract with Serie A side Napoli.
The Reds were first linked with Zielinski in the summer of 2016 when he was with Udinese. But he elected instead to join Napoli.
The Poland international has only just nailed down a regular first-team starting spot in the Napoli side. He has started in 11 of the side’s 13 Serie A games so far this season under new coach Carlo Ancelotti. That followed 36 appearances in each of the last two seasons but only 14 of those were as a starter last season with 18 in 2016-17.
Napoli are ready extend Zielinski’s current deal to 2023. However, they want to remove any release clause from the current deal. The player’s agents want a release clause of €80million (£71million) written in to his contract. That sum is apparently insufficient for club president Aurelio di Laurentiis.
Neither side appears to be in any rush to get a deal over the line.
