Wenger ‘Rules Himself Out’ Of Bayern Job

Frenchman Looking For Executive Role

Arsene Wenger Arsenal transfer news

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to rule himself out of the running for the Bayern Munich job – assuming it comes up.

The Frenchman was linked on Tuesday with the Bundesliga side who are struggling in fifth place in the table some nine points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund. Sky Sports News claims there has been no contact between Bayern and Wenger.

The 69-year-old recently turned down the chance to return to management with Fulham ostensibly on the grounds that he did not want to manage in the Premier League again. But reports are now claiming that Wenger is unlikely to return to management with any club. He is looking instead for a role in an executive position or as director of football.

Wenger hinted in October that he could be back in work in January adding: “There are associations, national teams, it could be in Japan.”

Bayern coach Niko Kovac eased the pressure on his position when his side won 5-1 at home to Benfica in the Champions League. That followed a 3-3 home draw with unfancied Fortuna Dusseldorf at the weekend. Bayern travel to seventh-placed Werder Bremen on Saturday.
