French Side Keen On Midfielder
Paris Saint-Germain will use tonight’s Champions League clash with Liverpool to open talks over a possible move for the Reds’ defensive midfielder Fabinho.
The Brazilian has failed to settle in at Anfield since his £44million transfer from Monaco in the summer. He has played in less than half of the Reds’ 13 Premier League games with just three starts and two substitute appearances to his name.
PSG are in the market for a competent defensive midfielder and were strongly linked with Fabinho before his transfer to Liverpool. But Uefa’s probe into their spending put a block on any move in the summer.
The French champions were linked again with Fabinho earlier this month when it was reported in France that he was ‘bored’ at Liverpool.
It took the midfielder until the end of October to make his first Premier League appearance although he has featured in each of the last five league games. This could call into doubt whether Liverpool would be willing to part with the player less than six months into his Anfield career.
But informal discussions are expected to take place later today when officials from the two clubs meet for a pre-match meal.
