Weigl Out Of Favour
Arsenal are being linked with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl.
Dortmund are currently top of the Bundesliga, but Weigl currently finds himself out of favour. The central midfielder is fourth choice in his position for which there are just two berths. He has started two Bundesliga games so far this season and made a substitute appearance in one other.
SportBild claims that Arsenal head of football recruitment Sven Mislintat is keen to bring Weigl to the Emirates. Mislintat knows Weigl well having worked at Dortmund when the midfielder was bought from 1860 Munich for €5million – at the time worth around £4million – in the summer of 2015.
The 23-year-old has been linked in the past with a move to England. Manchester City were said in the autumn of 2017 to be interested. Real Madrid also had an interest but failed to follow it up.
The Germany international is under contract at Dortmund until 2021.
