French Side Join Race For Defender
Arsenal will face competition from French side Paris Saint-Germain for the Manchester United defender Eric Bailly.
The Gunners were linked earlier this week with interest in the Ivory Coast international who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford. Bailly hasn’t started a game since he was substituted after just 19 minutes of United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United last month.
Bailly has been a pale shadow of his former self since picking up a groin injury that kept him out of action for three months last season. He has made just three Premier League starts so far this season and has been a substitute on two other occasions.
Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation. However, the Mail On Sunday has added PSG’s name to the list of Bailly’s admirers.
The defender is set for talks over his future with the club over whether he will be sold in the January transfer window. Any winter sale wouldn’t suit Arsenal. The Gunners’ director of football Raul Sanllehi has already decided not to make any new signings in January.
United are expected to sell one or both of Bailly and Marcos Rojo in order to help fund the signing of a new centre-back in January.
