But Agent Rules Out Barca Exit
Liverpool are being linked with an £85million move for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. But the news comes as the France international’s agent insists he is going nowhere.
Reports of a club-record move for Dembele come from The Sun which claims manager Jurgen Klopp wants the 21-year-old to boost a Liverpool bid to become champions for the first time since 1990.
Dembele has failed to settle at Barcelona since his £100million-plus move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017. A hamstring injury soon after he arrived at the La Liga side saw him miss four months of what turned out to be an injury-hit opening campaign.
Even so, Dembele has been given more first-team opportunities in this campaign. He had made seven starts in La Liga and four appearances off the bench compared to 12 league starts and five substitute appearances over the whole of last season.
However, speaking to French radio station RMC, Dembele’s agent Moussa Sissoko insisted that his client isn’t looking to quit the Nou Camp and he claimed he is still favoured by coach Ernesto Valverde.
“Ousmane is certain he will continue at Barcelona,” Sissoko said.
“I am convinced that Valverde wants Dembele.
“He is with France right now because he deserves to be.
“I have also spoken to [Barcelona director of football] Eric Abidal and he is very happy with Ousmane. He told me that he’s training very well.”
