Nicolas Pepe Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal transfer target Nicolas Pepe has played down reports that he is set to leave French side Lille in the January transfer window.

The Gunners were linked in September with a winter move for the 23-year-old.

Pepe has scored eight goals in 12 Ligue 1 games so far this season leading to speculation over a possible move to the Emirates. Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have also been linked.

“I was not aware of these rumours, although it’s nice,” Pepe told French TV programme Telefoot.

“Will I leave Lille at the end of the season? We do not even know what I’ll be doing tomorrow!”

He added: ”A preference between Dortmund, Bayern or Arsenal? They’re all big clubs.”

Pepe only moved to Lille in the summer of 2017 when he signed a five-year contract with the club. He was linked this summer with interest from another German side, Schalke 04. But Schalke offered €20million (around £18million). Lille said they wouldn’t part with the Ivory Coast international until they receive €30million.

Ligue 1 rivals Lyon are also believed to be interested.
