January Move Ruled Out
The brother of Chelsea midfield playmaker Eden Hazard claims the Belgium international won’t leave for Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
Hazard is being linked with interest from the European champions who were knocked back with an approach in the summer. But speaking to HLN in his homeland, Thorgan Hazard said it was a wise move for his brother to remain at Stamford Bridge.
“Eden made the right decision to stay at Chelsea,” said Thorgan, who quit Chelsea for Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach three years ago.
“Chelsea weren’t keen on selling him and he has had a strong start to the season.
“Real Madrid are in a complex period. They sacked their manager, key players left. They have to rebuild.
“I think Eden will see what happens at the end of the season. I know him. He’s not thinking about a move right now.
“He will give everything for Chelsea. He doesn’t want a clash with his club either.
“If he ever leaves, he will play it correctly.”
Hazard was linked with Real for much of last season and he spoke highly on a number of occasions both of the club and of their then coach Zinedine Zidane. But speaking last month to French TV programme Telefoot he ruled out a January exit.
“Chelsea were clear with me: I couldn’t leave the club,” he said. “I accepted it. Anyway… leaving or staying, I was going to be happy. I do not regret this decision at all
“When decisions are made you can sulk and often you get the last word. But I will never look to clash with the club. Chelsea have given me a lot.
“I left Lille on good terms and I want to do the same thing here.”
The Belgium international also ruled out a move away from Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window.
“A transfer in January? It’s not possible.”
