Milenkovic Linked With United
Manchester United have been told to pay £35million for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
That’s the latest on the Serbia international who has been scouted personally in recent weeks by United boss Jose Mourinho.
According to The Sun, United have been told by the Serie A side to pay €40million for the 21-year-old Milenkovic who was watched by Mourinho playing for Serbia in their Nations League clash with Montenegro earlier this month. The paper adds that the sum being quoted is €10million more than United are willing to pay. The Premier League club are willing to go as high as €30million (£26million).
But The Sun’s story flies in the face of recent reports coming from Italy. As Football Gossip reported only last week the Florence-based paper La Nazione claims United have already put in a bid of €40million.
Manchester United will face competition from a number of clubs for Milenkovic’s signature – as and when Fiorentina decide to sell him. Juventus are also interested while Arsenal and Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are monitoring his situation.
All this for a player who is only in his second season at Fiorentina. He joined the club from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2017 for a fee of €15million (at that time worth around £13.5million).
He made 14 starts for Fiorentina last season along with two appearances off the bench, but he has nailed down a place in the first team this season and has played every single minute of their nine Serie A matches to date.
