Midfielder Receives Vote Of Confidence From PSG Boss
Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona transfer target Adrien Rabiot is on the verge of signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international is out of contract at the end of the season and had rejected four previous offers of a new deal.
But according to French TV station Canal + Rabiot is re-evaluating his position after receiving a vote of confidence from new coach Thomas Tuchel. The 23-year-old has started in nine of PSG’s opening ten Ligue 1 games. The two occasions he was substituted were in the latter stages each time. He started 27 league games last season and was a substitute in six others.
Rabiot is back at the negotiating table with PSG amidst reports of a new, improved offer.
Arsenal have had a long-standing interest in Rabiot who was close to a move to the Emirates in 2014. At that time he was a year away from the end of his contract with PSG, but on that occasion is refusal to sign a new deal led to him being banished to the reserves.
Liverpool have also been keeping tabs on his situation as have Barcelona. The Catalan side have watched Rabiot extensively in recent weeks and looked set to make an offer in January. Until Rabiot puts pen to paper on a new deal he is free to speak to foreign clubs from the beginning of next year.
Barca have been eyeing up Rabiot, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Ajax’s Netherlands international Frenkie de Jong and were being tipped to sign two out of those three players next summer.
