No Progress On Contract Talks
Real Madrid are eyeing up a January move for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling according to reports.
The 23-year-old has reached an impasse in his contract talks with the Premier League champions. The latest reports claim he is looking for a £100,000-a-week increase on the £175,000 a week he already earns at the Etihad.
According to the Sunday Express, Real president Florentino Perez is prepared to pay £100million for Sterling after watching him demolish Spain when he played for England in their Nations League clash in Seville on Monday night. That Perez has come to such a decision based on one performance sounds far-fetched, So is the notion that Real will put in a bid in January. The Express believes City will be able to maximise Sterling’s transfer fee if they sell him in the winter market.
Sterling’s contract with City runs to the end of the 2019-20 season. There is no way City will allow him to leave partway through this current season. Any decision of a move away from the club will have to wait until next summer. But that gives City some eight months or so until the end of the campaign to try and resolve their differences with Sterling.
