Under Linked With Roma Exit
Arsenal are favourites to sign Roma forward Cengiz Under with reports from Italy claiming he could be on his way out of the club.
The Gunners were first linked with Under earlier this year. They failed to put in a bid this summer and it was claimed last week that he looked set to sign a new contract with Roma. This new deal would have seen his wages rise from €1million a year after tax and including bonuses to a basic wage of €2.5million a year nett.
But Roma fan site Forza Roma claims it’s a battle between Arsenal and Bayern Munich for the 21-year-old Turkey international. The Gunners were told in the summer that Roma would only listen to a bid of around €40million (at the time worth £35million).
Forza Roma believes Bayern are preparing a bid of €50million (£45million at current prices). However, it adds that Arsenal are in pole position for Under’s signature.
Roma signed Under from Turkish side Basaksehir in 2017 for a fee of around £13.4million. The Istanbul side are entitled to 20 percent of any transfer proceeds received by Roma. Under’s first club, Turkish lower-league side Altinordu, are also entitled to a cut.
