Gunners Watching Italy Midfielder
Arsenal have joined the race to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The 21-year-old was extensively linked with Liverpool during the summer and the Serie A duo of AC Milan and Inter Milan are both monitoring his progress.
But Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Barella who starred in Italy’s Nations League victory over Poland on Sunday night.
Cagliari value Barella at anything between €30million (£26.3million) and €50million (£44.4million). Neither Milan or Inter will make a move until next summer. In that regard, a place in the Champions League will be vital for both teams in order to fund their bids. Milan sporting director Leonardo has already been in touch over a possible move.
Liverpool were linked with Barella as the replacement for Emre Can who signed for Juventus on a free transfer this summer. No bid transpired nor did one from Juventus. The Serie A champions are believed to have ditched their interest after signing Can.
Everton To Offer Huge Deal To Ramsey
Meanwhile, Everton are the latest club to be linked with a move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The Wales international will leave the Emirates at the end of the season after Arsenal withdrew their offer of a new contract. Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked along with AC Milan, who recently poached Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis as their new CEO.
But reports today claim that Everton are prepared to offer Ramsey a signing-on fee of £15million to move to Goodison Park. The Toffees will also offer him wages of £150,000 a week.
Everton sporting director Marcel Brands is currently putting together the package.
