Gunners Switch Their Attentions To Youth
Arsenal are keeping tabs on two of Europe’s top young players.
The Gunners are interested in Rennes’ Senegal international winger Ismaila Sarr and Bayer Leverkusen’s Germany international midfielder Kai Havertz.
Arsenal’s interest in Sarr was reported by Football Gossip in September when we suggested that the Gunners had watched him in action on a number of occasions.
The 20-year-old scored three goals in his first seven appearances for Rennes this season and he is already being compared to one of his former team-mates, the Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. Indeed, Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring his performances.
Rennes could be ready to cash in on Sarr next summer.
Arsenal are also watching 19-year-old Kai Havertz. The teenager has already played in 73 games for Bayer and he made his senior international debut when he came on as an 88th-minute substitute in Germany’s recent friendly with Peru.
Havertz has scored four goals in 10 games in all competitions this season for Bayer. Three of those have come in Europa League games as the Bundesliga side defeated Ludogorets and AEK Larnaca.
The Gunners’ head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has earmarked both Sarr and Havertz as Arsenal seem to be turning to younger transfer targets.
