Serie A Side Reject United Overtures
Manchester United have put in a £40million bid for Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam according to reports from Italy.
The Naples radio station Radio Kiss Kiss claimed on Friday that United have lodged a €45million bid for the Algeria international. However, it added that the Serie A side have rejected the bid out of hand.
United are willing to pay the 27-year-old Ghoulam a salary of €6million a year after tax. That’s the equivalent of around £175,000 a week gross.
This isn’t the first time United have been linked with Ghoulam. Football Gossip reported earlier this year that the Red Devils were willing to pay €30million (at that time worth around £26million). United’s interest dates back to the end of 2017.
Ibrahimovic Linked With United Return
Manchester United are also being linked with a bizarre move for their former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 37-year-old is currently with MLS side LA Galaxy where he has scored 21 goals in 25 games. But rumours are suggesting that Jose Mourinho is looking to bring the veteran striker back to Old Trafford on loan for a couple of months.
The MLS season ends at the beginning of December. However, Ibrahimovic would only be able to sign for United at the beginning of January. The 2019 MLS campaign commences at the beginning of March next year.
Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals during his first season at Old Trafford but a cruciate knee ligament injury towards the end of the campaign ruled him out until November of last year. The Swede felt he wasn’t the same player after his injury and he left United before the end of last season to move to California.
But rumours are suggesting that Jose Mourinho will try and bring Ibrahimovic back for just a couple of months to boost his side’s flagging attack.
