Alba In Manchester United Link
Manchester United are considering a bid for Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba according to reports from Spain.
Alba is out of contract at Barcelona in 2020 but talks have stalled over a new deal for the left-back leading to speculation over his future at the Nou Camp. The Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims United have been alerted to his situation and could put in a bid. However, that seems unlikely.
United are keen to sign a left-back with Ashley Young well into his thirties and doubts remaining over Luke Shaw. But Alba turns 30 in March of next year. United boss Jose Mourinho was frustrated in his attempt to sign Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Willian in the summer – all of whom are either 29 or 30. A bid for Alba would go against club policy.
The Spain international moved to Barcelona from Valencia in 2012. He has made over 250 appearances for the side winning the Champions League once, La Liga on four occasions as well as four triumphs in the Copa del Rey.
United Eye Up Ivory Coast Winger
Manchester United have also joined the race for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe. The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international has been linked with United in recent days having scored six goals in nine appearances for the French side so far this season.
Arsenal are also being linked but reports from Germany have added Bayern Munich’s name to the mix. SportBild claims talks are planned between Pepe’s representatives and a delegation from Bayern.
United Linked With Ramsey
Some reports are claiming that Manchester United are interested in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The 27-year-old Wales international looks set to quit the Emirates after the Gunners withdrew their offer of a new deal. His contract expires at the end of the season.
Liverpool are being linked with a cut-price deal in January. However, United could also put in a bid of their own.
But the Premier League duo face competition from Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan.
Ramsey is free to speak to overseas clubs from 1 January over a pre-contract agreement.
