Striker Out Of Favour At Liverpool
Liverpool striker Divock Origi is a January transfer target for Turkish side Galatasaray.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at Anfield and has yet to play a single minute of football for the Reds. Origi hasn’t been registered in the Liverpool squad for the Champions League group stages meaning he could play in the competition for Galatasaray should they make it out of their group and into the knockout stages.
The Super Lig champions are looking for a replacement for Bafetimbi Gomis who left during the summer for Saudi club Al Hilal. Gomis scored 32 goals and provided six assists last season as Galatasaray lifted the title for a record 21st time.
Origi spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg where he scored seven goals in 36 appearances. Borussia Dortmund were interested in him during the summer. However, they only wanted another season-long loan deal while Liverpool were more interested in a permanent sale. The Reds were reported to be demanding £27million, a price that deterred any potential purchasers.
Origi has made one appearance for the Reds’ reserves this season scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Galatasaray are top of the Super Lig and lie in third place in their Champions League group with three points from their opening two games.
