Arsenal Face Competition For Lille Striker

Pepe Wanted By Bayern

Nicolas Pepe Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal face competition from Bayern Munich for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe.

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international was linked last month with interest from the Gunners. It was claimed that Arsenal made contact with Lille in the final few days of the French transfer window which closed on 31 August. Bundesliga side Schalke had already seen a bid of €20million (currently worth around £18million) rejected by the French club. They were told Pepe would only leave for a fee of at least €30million (£27million).

Pepe has scored six goals in nine games so far this season for Lille. According to reports from Germany, Bayern Munich’s representatives have already made contact with members of Pepe’s entourage over a possible move. This could lead to a bid either in the January transfer window or next summer.

Premier League Duo Eye Up Ramsey Bids

Meanwhile, both Liverpool and Manchester United are being linked with a cut-price move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in January.

The Wales international is out of contract at the end of the season and has been told he can leave Arsenal. The Gunners could allow him to leave for a nominal fee in January rather than let him go for nothing in the summer.

However, Serie A side Juventus are also being linked. They are free to speak to Ramsey from 1 January over a pre-contract agreement.
