Manchester United transfer target Milan Skriniar has played down rumours that he could leave Inter Milan in the January window.

Central defender Skriniar, 23, was reportedly the subject of a failed bid from United during the summer although he insists there was nothing in the rumours.

The Slovakia international has withdrawn from his country’s forthcoming fixture with Sweden. Speaking to journalists he also rejected rumours of interest from Bayern Munich.

“I read about these things but I do not think about them. It was the same in the summer. Nothing happened in the end and I do not think it’s happening now. ”

Inter lie in third place in Serie A, eight points behind leaders Juventus.

“We have a lot of matches with Inter,” added Skriniar. “Right after the national team there are important challenges such as the Milan derby, so we have to prepare well.

“Juventus are at the top in Italy, but we can also play well against them. get a winning streak and be where we wanted to be from the start of the season.

“We will try to continue with this series of results for as long as possible “.
