Arsenal will face competition from at least one other Premier League side in the race for Miguel Almiron.
Atlanta United midfielder Almiron looks set to move to England in January. The MLS side’s president Darren Eadie confirmed the news at the weekend.
Arsenal were first linked with the 23-year-old in 2016 although he surprised many by leaving Argentine side Lanus for the newly-formed Atlanta club.
Almiron has shone in MLS with United currently top of the Eastern Conference. But reports from Italy claim Leicester City are now showing an interest. Like Arsenal, they could make a move of their own in the January transfer window.
The Paraguayan is expected to leave Atlanta for a fee of around £13million having joined the club for £5million.
Newcastle United, West Ham United and Inter Milan have also been linked.
