Ronaldo Given One-Match Ban Following Red Car

Cristiano Ronaldo will be free to face Manchester United next month after receiving a one-match Champions League ban.

Ronaldo was sent off while playing for Juventus against Valencia last week and there were fears he could receive a three-match ban. But Uefa confirmed today that he will face just a one-game suspension for a foul and what looked like a hair-pull on the La Liga side’s defender Jeison Murillo.

But while Ronaldo will miss next week’s clash with Swiss champions Young Boys he will be available for both the match against Manchester United on 23 October and the return game in Turin on 7 November.

The five-time Champions League winner was dismissed after the tangle with Murillo in an incident that was seen by the official behind the goal. He was shown a red card by referee Felix Brych and left the field in years.
