Juve, PSG Join Race For Wolves Stat
Manchester United will face competition from Serie A and Ligue 1 for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.
Reports last month claimed United and Manchester City could battle it out in January for the £60million-rated Portugal international. City are still smarting over missing out on Italy international Jorginho over the summer and could launch a bid for Neves in January. That could trigger a counter-bid from United.
However, reports today claim that Serie A giants Juventus are interested in both Neves and team-mate Diogo Jota while Calciomercato claims that Paris Saint-Germain are keen on Neves.
The 23-year-old is under contract at Molynuex until 2023. He moved to Wolves from Porto in January 2017 in a transfer that raised some eyebrows. He had been linked earlier in his career with interest from Liverpool as well as United.
The agent of both Neves and Jota is Jorge Mendes who also represents Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and Juventus’s record summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
There has been no official contact as yet between Juventus and Wolves over the pair. However, reports from Italy towards the end of last month suggested that Mendes wants there to be a link between Wolves and the Serie A giants.
Whether Wolves will sanction a January move for either of their top names remains open to question. A more likely scenario sees them rejecting all offers for their players until next summer particularly if the departure of Neves and/or Jota threatens their Premier League survival. They currently lie in 11th place in the Premier League after four games.
