City, United Have The Easier Groups. Spurs Take On Barcelona, Liverpool Face PSG

Uefa Champions League draw 2018-19

Manchester City and Manchester United both have straighforward tasks in getting beyond the group stages of the Champions League. City face Ukrainian chanpions Shakhtar Donetsk . The two clubs met in last season’s Champions League group stage with City winning 2-0 at the Etihad before going down 2-1 in Ukraine. The other two sides in the group are Lyon and Bundesliga side Hoffenheim who are making their debut in the group stages of the Champions League.

Manchester United have been drawn against Juventus, the winners of Serie A in each of the last seven seasons. The two sides last met in the 2002-03 Champions League second group stage with United winning both games: 2-1 at home and 3-0 in Turin. They also face Valencia and Swiss side Young Boys.

Liverpool have a stiffer task. face Paris Saint-Germain for the first time in over 20 years. They last met the French club in the European Cup-Winners Cup in 1997, PSG winning 3-2 on aggregate. The Reds have also been drawn against Serie A side Napoli and Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.

Tottenham Hotspur face Barcelona. The two sides’ only previous clash in European competition came in the 1981-82 European Cup-Winners Cup. The Catalan side triumphed 2-1 on aggregate, drawing at White Hart Lane before Barca won 1-0 at the Nou Camp. Barca have won their group in each of the last 11 season. Spurs also take on PSV Eindhoven

Defending champions Real Madrid face Roma, CSKA Moscow and Viktoria Plzen.
