But United Star Is Unlikely To Move
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would be welcomed at Barcelona says the La Liga side’s defender Gerard Pique.
Pogba was linked during the summer with interest from Barcelona and the Catalan side saw a bid of £40million plus two players rejected by United. But speaking at a Poker Stars event on Monday, Pique was asked if he could see Pogba moving to the Nou Camp.
“I’m not too aware of what’s going on with them,” he replied. “Pogba is a great player and he’s there. We’ll see if he changes clubs in the future.
“It would be nice if he came and would make us happy in the future, but we have to respect a player who is at Manchester United.”
The La Liga transfer deadline is not until Friday. However, the chances of Pogba moving to Barcelona are zero. Nor is there much prospect of him heading to Catalunya in the January transfer window.
Two Approaches For Martial Turned Down
Manchester United rejected approaches this summer from AC Milan and Atletico Madrid for striker Anthony Martial. The France international told the club that he wanted to leave this summer. However, United stood firm and rejected approaches from the two European giants.
There have been conflicting reports about Martial with the latest just last week suggesting that he is prepared to remain at the club for the rest of the season.
French radio station RMC claims that United received approaches from Milan and Atletico earlier on in the summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho was quite prepared for the club to sell Martial. However, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward believes the former Monaco player still has a great future at Old Trafford and has yet to reach his full potential.
Martial is another player who won’t be leaving Manchester United until next summer at the earliest. But after a disappointing performance in the 3-2 defeat at Brighton – a match he started but was substituted after an hour – he was left out of the squad entirely for the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night.
