Real Turned Attentions To Premier League Stars
Real Madrid have failed this summer with bids to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Liverpool’s Mo Salah.
The European champions have made moves for the Premier League’s two top scorers from the 2017-18 campaign. Intermediaries representing Real Madrid have approached both Kane and Salah during the past month. But with Cristiano Ronaldo gone it was difficult to persuade either player to make the move. In Salah’s case he responded by signing a new contract with Liverpool although the Egpytian is believed to have agreed the deal before he headed off to the World Cup in Russia.
The moves for Kane and Salah came after Real were frustrated in their efforts to sign Kylian Mbappe and Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain. Brazil international Neymar has long been linked with Real although the smart money has always been on a move to the Bernabeu in 2019 rather than this summer. Talks are expected to resume in September.
Real have also been linked with Chelsea midfield playmaker Eden Hazard. However, a source close to the Belgium international has told Spanish newspaper El Pais that Real “did not want to mess with Chelsea”.
