Mata Linked With Return To Former Club
Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is likely to be a target for La Liga side Valencia next summer.
The former Spain international is out of contract at the end of this season. He is now 30 years old and the most he can hope for is a one-year extension though in reality he is likely to be released next summer.
Mata spent four years at Valencia before he moved to Chelsea in 2011. He moved to United in January 2014 when the then manager David Moyes spent £37million on a player deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
Valencia are unwilling to pay a fee for Mata. He is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from 1 January 2019.
