Zouma Move Expected To Be Confirmed
Everton manager Marco Silva says Kurt Zouma’s loan move from Chelsea to Goodison Park is almost done. An announcement is expected later this afternoon.
“It’s almost done, not official but almost,” the Everton boss said. “We’ll wait for a few hours and see what we’ll do but it’s almost done,” Silva admitted at a press conference on Friday.
“I don’t want to talk only about him because the market is the market. When you start to bring in some new players you want to strengthen the squad.
“Of course at his moment it looks stronger but we have to work with all of them and gel everything and put them in our way to adapt them as soon as possible.”
Everton informed the Premier League on Thursday evening before the 5pm deadline that Zouma’s loan was likely to go through. The league granted the Toffees a deal sheet to confirm the move. Normally that gives clubs an additional two hours but this transfer has gone in to Friday.
The Toffees made the move for the Frenchman after it became clear they would not be signing Marcos Rojo from Manchester United. The Red Devils were unable to sign a replacement for Rojo.
Zouma was also linked with United earlier this week. He spent last season on loan at Stoke City where he put in a number of good performances despite the side’s relegation from the Premier League.
