Teenager Set For Loan Move
Manchester City have completed the signing of Australian midfielder Daniel Arzani.
The 19-year-old – regarded as one of his country’s brightest young prospects – joins from sister club Melbourne City.
Arzani was the youngest player at the recent World Cup tournament in Russia coming on as a substitute in all three of Australia’s group matches.
Both Manchester City and Melbourne City are owned by the City Football Group and the company’s Managing Director of Global Football, Brian Marwood, expressed his satisfaction at Arzani making the move within the stable of clubs.
“In a short period of time, Daniel has developed into one of Australia’s brightest young stars and has demonstrated the drive and raw talent required for success at the highest level,” Marwood told the Manchester City website.
“This pathway was first forged by Aaron Mooy just two years ago, and we are all delighted to see another Australian-grown talent make this move. The combination of City Football Group’s global football structure and the world-leading City Football Academy facilities create an environment in which this pathway can become well-trodden.”
Arzani made his debut for Melbourne City in 2016 and has racked up 29 first-team appearances over the past two years. He is expected to go out on loan and is already being linked with a season-long move to Scottish champions Celtic.
