Two Bids Turned Down As Transfer Goes Down To The Wire
Manchester United have had two bids rejected for Leicester City central defender Harry Maguire. That’s according to Sky Sports which claims the England international is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
Sky claims to have been told that United’s most recent bid was for £60million. Leicester are in the process of recruiting replacements for Maguire. Felip Benkovic has had a medical ahead of £13.5million move from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb while the Foxes are also keen on Caglar Soyuncu who plays for Freiburg. The Bundesliga side are looking for €25million (£22million).
Leicester plan to offer Maguire a new deal worth £95,000 a week – if he is still there after the transfer deadline which falls at 5pm on Thursday. But the 25-year-old – who only moved to the King Power Stadium in a £17million transfer from Hull City in the summer of 2017 – is ready to make the move to Old Trafford if the two clubs can agree a fee.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Belgium international Toby Alderweireld is also a target for United. So is Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng despite reports today claiming that he telephoned Jose Mourinho on Tuesday to tell him he isn’t interested in a move to Old Trafford. Boateng’s age is a problem for the Manchester United hierarchy. He turns 30 early next month and that’s the age where the club tends to lose interest in a player. United are keen on a loan deal.
