Dembele In Arsenal Link After Meeting Players
Speculation over an Arsenal move for Barcelona midfielder Ousmane Dembele has increased following an Instagram post by the father of Gunners striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The posting – made on Thursday evening – shows Aubameyang’s father Pierre Aubameyang alongside his son, Arsenal players Alexandre Lacazette, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and new signing Matteo Guendouzi and Dembele.
“Very happy to be with family and surrounded by our guys,” writes Aubameyang senior. But the presence on the photo of Dembele has sent Arsenal fans into overdrive.
“Dembele is a gooner,” wrote one Arsenal fan. “Keep dreaming,” wrote another.
Dembele has had limited chances at Barcelona since his controversial €105million move to the Nou Camp from Borussia Dortmund last summer. A hamstring injury picked up in the early weeks of last season saw him ruled out for four months. He made just 12 starts in La Liga in the 2017-18 campaign along with five appearances off the substitutes’ bench.
Dembele is being linked with a loan move this season. But the loan fee would cost around £15-20million and Arsenal are at the limit of their budget after spending £68million in the transfer market so far this summer.
Mustafi Linked With Arsenal Exit
Arsenal central defender Shkodran Mustafi could be on his way out of the club.
The Germany international was signed from Valencia for £35million two summers ago after the Gunners went through an injury crisis at centre-back. But he has failed to impress in his two seasons at the Emirates and reports today claim he could be sold if the club receive a bid of around £22million.
Turkish website Fanatik believes Galatasaray have offered to take the 26-year-old on loan but the Gunners have ruled out a temporary departure and are only interested in a permanent deal.
Mustafi started 25 of the Gunners’ 38 Premier League games last season.
