Manchester United star Paul Pogba has revealed the reason he didn’t dye his hair during the World Cup finals in Russia.

The 25-year-old has had a number of outrageous hair-dos during his career although his critics have used his preening as an excuse to lambast any poor performances.

But speaking to a fan during a question-and-answer session on Instagram, Pogba was asked why he hadn’t dyed his hair in Russia.

“Because I wanted peace to be only focus on my performance and not my look so there is no excuse they could only criticise the football part,” he replied.

The United midfielder also revealed that he has given his World Cup winner’s medal to his mother for safe keeping.

β€œIt is with my mum, hope she gives it back after my holidays,” he said.

Pogba is currently on holiday. Each United player involved in the World Cup got a three-week break commencing from when their role in the tournament came to an end. In Pogba’s case it means he is due back in training a week today.

However, the Frenchman is not expected to play a full role in United’s first home game of the season. They take on Leicester City in the Premier League season opener at Old Trafford on Friday 10 August – just four days after he arrives back at Manchester United.
