N’Zonzi Heading For Serie A
Arsenal look set to miss out on Sevilla winger Steven N’Zonzi with the France international on the verge of a move to Roma.
N’Zonzi, 29, is a target for new Gunners boss Unai Emery who signed the former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City man when he was head coach at Sevilla. The two men spent a season working together and captured a third consecutive Europa League title in 2016 before Emery left for Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal were reported to have put in a £13million bid for a player whose release clause with Sevilla stands at €40million (£35million).
But Calciomercato in Italy believes that N’Zonzi is now close to a move to Roma. The Serie A side’s sporting director Monchi – who was in the same role at Sevilla when N’Zonzi moved to the Spanish club – has put in a bid of €25million (£22million). Sevilla are tempted to take the cash.
However, there is one snag. Roma need first to sell Maxime Gonalons before they can sign N’Zonzi. Crystal Palace are interested and have made two offers, but Gonalons’ entourage have rejected both offers.
Once Gonalons goes then Roma will complete the move for N’Zonzi. At this stage, a move to Arsenal looks unlikely.
Ospina In Turkey Link
One player who looks set to leave Arsenal is goalkeeper David Ospina. The Colombia international is a target for Turkish side Besiktas with reports claiming the two clubs have shaken hands over a deal.
Only Ospina’s personal terms are holding up the move. The 29-year-old wants €4million a year. Besiktas have offered €3million and have been in contact with Liverpool over their Belgium international keeper Simon Mignolet.
Arsenal are likely to part with one keeper this summer following the arrival of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen. The Germany international is likely to be Unai Emery’s first-choice keeper with Petr Cech as his understudy.
