Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane could make a quick return to football with Serie A side Juventus. The Frenchman stepped down in May following Real’s third consecutive Champions League triumph with him at the helm citing a need for a change in order to keep the side on its toes.

But Spanish website Libertad Digital claims Zidane could take on the role of sporting director at Juve. The website quotes sources close to the Italian club’s ruling Agnelli family.

The Serie A outfit last week spent just over £100million bringing Cristiano Ronaldo from Real and Zidane could follow him to the Juventus Stadium.

Zidane would work alongside current sporting director Fabio Paratici although he wouldn’t take up his role at the club until October. It is not known whether this is because of a severance clause in his exit agreement with Real Madrid.

There was speculation that Zidane was present at the formal presentation of Cristiano Ronaldo in Turin on Monday. The Frenchman wasn’t seen but the signing of Ronaldo would have been a factor in his decision to take up any offer.
