Manchester United face competition from Chelsea for the signature of Lazio midfielder Sergey Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbia international was watched on a number of occasions last season by scouts from Old Trafford. However, Lazio’s valuation of €150million (£130million) has put off United.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims that Chelsea have become interested in Milinkovic-Savic following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.
Juventus have also been linked with the Serb. However, that interest appears to be at an end following the signing last week of Cristiano Ronaldo in a deal worth £105million.
Lazio yesterday sold Felipe Anderson to West Ham United for a fee of £47million.
United Linked With £44m Rebic
Manchester United are considering a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ante Rebic. The 24-year-old was one of the stars of the Croatia side that went all the way to the World Cup Final before losing 4-2 to France on Sunday.
Reports from Italy claim United boss Jose Mourinho is considering a bid of €50million (£44million) for Rebic.
Rebic spent last season on loan at Frankfurt from Serie A side Fiorentina. The deal was made permanent at the end of June for a fixed fee of just €2million (£1.8million). Now, there are claims he could be worth 25 times that amount thanks to his performances in Russia.
The forward spent five years at Fiorentina. However, he failed to nail down a regular first-team place making just eight appearances in Serie A. He was sent out on loan to RB Leipzig and Hellas Verona before heading to Frankfurt two seasons ago.
Rebic has scored eight goals in 49 Bundesliga appearances during his two seasons in Germany.
Shaw To Go On A Free?
Luke Shaw could leave Manchester United on a free transfer next summer. The England international full-back is currently in the USA with the rest of the United squad preparing for a series of pre-season friendlies.
Shaw is out of contract next summer and has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford. But he will get the chance to impress manager Jose Mourinho while regular first-choice left-back Ashley Young takes a break following the World Cup.
United appear to have shelved plans to sign a new player in that position. Diogo Dalot joined from Porto last month and the youngster can play on either flank in a back four. But interest in Alex Sandro of Juventus and Kieran Tierney of Celtic appears to have faded.
Newcastle United were linked in January with a loan move for Shaw. However, United would only let him leave permanently and for a fee of £20million.
