Gomes Closer To Arsenal Move
Arsenal transfer target Andre Gomes has been left out of Barcelona’s pre-season tour amidst rumours of a move away from the Nou Camp.
The Portugal international isn’t among the list of players who will travel to North America and looks set to leave Barca before the start of the season.
The Gunners are still interested in a player they were being linked with earlier this summer. However, they face competition for his signature from Serie A giants Juventus.
Barcelona are demanding €20million (£17.5million) for Gomes. Neither Arsenal or Juventus are willing to go that hight. According to Sport newspaper the likeliest scenario is that Gomes will move for around €18million (over £16million). Barca will also demand performance-related add-ons and bonuses. They will insist on a percentage of the profit of any future sale of Gomes.
The 24-year-old arrived at Barcelona two summers ago in a €35million move from Valencia.
Arsenal have already signed five players this summer: goalkeeper Bernd Leno, full-back Stephane Lichtsteiner, central defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and midfielders Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi have all moved to the Emirates.
Gunners Eye Up Bentancur Move
Arsenal are being linked with Uruguay international midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur. The 21-year-old only moved to Juventus from Boca Juniors last summer. He made 20 appearances in Serie A as Juve picked up their seventh successive title.
But the Italian side need to raise cash following the £105million signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and Bentancur is one of the names being linked with a move away from the club.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Arsenal and Barcelona are among the clubs keeping tabs on Bentancur’s situation. The midfielder moved to Juve for a fee of €9.7million. Expect the Italian side to demand at least double that amount should Bentancur be sold.
