Perisic Talks ‘Advanced’
Manchester United are making a fresh attempt to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic according to reports from France.
United tried to sign the Croatia international last summer, but the deal faltered when the Premier League side failed to match Inter’s €55million (£48million) asking price. United’s final offer was for €45million with £150,000 a week on offer to Perisic.
Paris United claims that talks are at an advanced stage between United and Perisic’s representative Fali Ramadani. Super-agent Pini Zahavi was also involved in the negotiations. The Israeli often represents United in meetings with the clubs of potential transfer targets.
Perisic had a disappointing season following the collapse of his move to Old Trafford. But Inter need to raise cash in order to comply with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations and his name is at the top of the list of saleable assets. He signed a new deal with Inter last summer that runs to 2022.
The Croatia international has had a good World Cup scoring twice in the tournament including the equalising goal against England in Wednesday’s semi-final.
His performance led to this praise from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
2Perisic is the kind of winger that is different to the others,” said Mourinho.
“Normally you look at wingers and they are just fast and creative but he is also physical, very physical, fantastic in the air.”
Inter Loan Offer For Darmian
Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian could form part of any deal for Perisic. The Italy international looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer having fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
A move to Juventus has stalled with United demanding a transfer fee of around £17million. Juve will only pay around £12-13million.
However, Inter Milan are offering Darmian a season-long loan deal.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer although United have the option to extend his contract by a further year.
