€60m Bid For Chelsea Winger
Barcelona have put in a second bid for Chelsea winger Willian.
The Catalan side were knocked back last week with a bid worth €50million (£44million). But Sky Sports claimed this afternoon that Barca have returned with a second bid worth €60million (£53million).
Talks have taken place between the two clubs and also between Barcelona and Willian’s representatives.
Willian has also been linked with Manchester United, but while Jose Mourinho put in an enquiry about the Brazil international shortly after he was appointed manager at Old Trafford two years ago there has been no bid from Old Trafford in this transfer window. That’s despite reports claiming United could still come in with a bid.
Barcelona began talks about three months ago with Willian’s representatives. Much depends on incoming Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri. Willian fell down the pecking order during Antonio Conte’s two-year spell in charge in west London – a period that came to an end today. Thirty-five of the Brazilian’s 70 Premier League appearances for the Blues during that time came as a substitute.
