Arsenal Transfer News: Mustafi, Guendouzi

Mustafi In Exit Link

Shkodran Mustafi

Arsenal central defender Shkodran Mustafi is wanted by Serie A side Juventus.

Reports from Italy claim the Germany international is an alternative target for the Serie A side if they fail to sign Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid.

Mustafi joined the Gunners from Valencia two summer ago, but he has come under fire for some of his performances and he was left out of the Germany side that flopped at the World Cup this summer.

United signed Greek centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund last week in a £16million transfer.

Emery Talks Guendouzi Into Arsenal Transfer

Arsenal boss Unai Emery intervened personally to get Matteo Guendouzi to move to the Gunners.

Reports on Monday suggested the 19-year-old Lorient midfielder was set to have a medical with Arsenal ahead of a £7million move from the Ligue 2 side.

Watford, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, St Etienne and Roma were also linked with a player who was recommended to Arsenal by head of recruitment Sven Mislintat. But French newspaper L’Equipe claims that Emery spoke to Guendouzi and persuaded him to choose a move to the Emirates.

Of the clubs linked, PSG were closest to re-signing a player who came up through their academy before heading to Lorient in 2014. He made his first-team debut for Lorient in the 2016-17 season when they were relegated from Ligue 1 and he followed that with 20 appearances in the second tier last season.

Guendouzi was dropped by coach Mickael Landreau following a dressing-room incident after a 4-2 defeat to Valenciennes in the early part of last season. He was dropped again at the end of April for a trip to Nimes with Landreau citing “personal problems”. Guendouzi didn’t play for the club again.

The France under-20 international hinted on social media on Monday that he looks set to sign. He is due to join up with the France squad for the Uefa Under-19 championships in Finland next week.
