‘No Bids At All’ Claim Spanish Club
Sevilla are denying reports that Arsenal have put in a bid for winger Steven N’Zonzi. The news comes despite claims the Gunners have had talks with the La Liga side.
It was reported on Saturday that Arsenal have put in a bid of €15million (just over £13million) for the France international who is still in Russia at the World Cup finals. It was also claimed that the bid has been rejected. N’Zonzi has a release clause of €40million (£35million) in his contract with the La Liga side.
But Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparro denies there has been a bid from any interested club.
“Let the World Cup finish first,” said Caparro. “However, we do not have any offers for him, so we can not talk about something that does not exist.”
Arsenal manager Unai Emery knows N’Zonzi well having signed him for Sevilla from Stoke City in 2015. The two men worked together for a season picking up the Europa League title before Emery headed off to Paris Saint-Germain the following summer.
Real Sociedad Want Monreal
Arsenal full-back Nacho Monreal is being linked with a move back to La Liga.
The 32-year-old, who moved to the Emirates from Malaga in 2013, is wanted by Real Sociedad. The Basque side have sold Alvaro Odriozola to Real Madrid for €30million and are looking at Monreal as his replacement.
Monreal has two years left on his contract with Arsenal although one of those years is an option held by the club. In theory, he could be available on a free transfer next summer.
However, he is believed to reticent about leaving north London. Any move back to Spain is likely to result in a huge cut in wages.
Wilshere Move To Go Through
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is expected to complete his move to West Ham United in the next 24 hours. The free agent had a medical with the Hammers on Friday and his move should be announced on Monday.
