Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is set to sign a new five-year deal at Old Trafford. The Spain international has been linked with interest from Real Madrid as they look to replace Keylor Navas but according to reports on Friday he looks set to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

De Gea is one of a number of players being linked with a move to the Bernabeu. Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois and Roma’s Alisson have also been linked with the European champions and the Brazil international currently in talks over a move to Madrid.

De Gea was a target for the Spanish club back in 2015. On that occasion only a faulty fax machine at the Bernabeu prevented the deal from going through as Real were unable to lodge his papers in time.

But United have slapped a £100million price tag on de Gea and with Roma in the market for a new keeper now rather than when his contract expires next summer Madrid have decided to look elsewhere.

De Gea has a one-year extension built into his current deal. That allows the club to trigger an option automatically extending his contract by another year, something Jose Mourinho was always prepared to do.

De Gea endured a poor game last night as Spain drew 3-3 with Portugal in their opening match at the World Cup. He dropped a clanger for Portugal’s second goal allowing the ball to go through him.

Juventus, Manchester United To Have Transfer Discussions

Manchester United and Juventus will have talks over no fewer than five transfers according to reports from Italy.

Calciomercato claims that negotiations are due to take place in the coming week over the move of three players from Juventus to Manchester United with two moving in the opposite direction.

The website believes that United are interested in Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, midfielder Sami Khedira and left-back Alex Sandro. Mandzukic can be discounted because of his age – he turned 32 last month. United’s recent signing of Diogo Dalot appears to have ruled out a move for another left-back.

Juventus have their eyes on two Manchester United players. They have offered €13million (£11.4million) for full-back Matteo Darmian. United are holding out for €20million (£17.5million). But they are also interested in striker Anthony Martial whose agent stated earlier this week wants to leave Old Trafford.
