Arsenal Keen On Kenedy
Arsenal face competition from RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Kenedy.
The 22-year-old spent the second of the season on loan at Newcastle United where he impressed enough for Toon boss Rafa Benitez to consider making his move permanent.
But Chelsea’s asking price is likely to be more than Newcastle are willing to pay and a number of other clubs have begun to circle.
Arsenal are known to be keen on Kenedy. But reports from Germany claim RB Leipzig are eyeing up a possible move. The Bundesliga side are on the lookout for a potential replacement for Emil Forsberg who has attracted the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs.
Kenedy’s future is unlikely to be decided in the short term. Antonio Conte is being tipped to quit Chelsea this summer with former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri being tipped to replace him.
Lichsteiner For Arsenal?
Arsenal are also being linked with Juventus full-back Stephane Lichtsteiner.
Reports claim the Gunners are one of a number of clubs interested in Lichtsteiner whose contract with Juve expires next month.
But the former Switzerland international is 34. Historically, Arsenal have tended to avoid players over the age of 30. That was in the Arsene Wenger era. It will be interesting to see if the club’s policy has changed with Wenger out of the way. Sven Mislintat is now handling player recruitment.
Lichtsteiner spent seven years with Juventus following a move from Lazio in 2011. During that time he won seven successive Serie A titles and four Italian cups.
