Arsenal Hopeful Over Serie A Midfielder
Arsenal are in talks with the representatives of Italy international midfielder Bryan Cristante over a possible move to the Emirates.
Cristante is currently on loan at Serie A side Atalanta from Benfica. He was sold to the Portugese giants by AC Milan in the summer of 2014. But he failed to settle in Portugal and since the beginning of 2016 he has been out on loan at three Italian clubs: Pescara, Palermo and, currently, Atalanta.
After playing just 127 minutes of league football over seven games in a season-and-a-half with Benfica he has started 30 Serie A games for Atalanta this season and been a substitute in three others.
The deal between Atalanta and Benfica calls for the 22-year-old to move to the Serie A side permanently at the end of the season for a reported fee of just €5million (around £4.3million).
But while reports today claim that Arsenal could secure Cristante’s signature it isn’t exactly clear-cut. For one thing, Atalanta could eye up a quick profit. Some outlets are claiming the Serie A side will sign Cristante before selling him on at an instant profit. A fee of €30million (£26million) is being mooted.
In any case, Arsenal will face competition for Cristante’s signature. Chelsea are also believed to be in talks with his representatives while former club AC Milan are interested in re-signing him.
Improved Offer To Wilshere
Arsenal have made a fresh offer to Jack Wilshere. The England international is out of contract at the end of the season and has already turned down one offer of a deal worth £90,000 a week. But that is around £20,000 a week less than he earns at present. However, the bonus structure would have seen him at least match his current wages.
This new offer is believed to be worth around £100,000 a week and Arsenal are hopeful that Wilshere will put pen to paper.
Wilshere is known to be keen to continue his career at Arsenal. However, he has also been linked with interest from Everton, newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers and Serie A sides AC Milan and Juventus.
