New Contract To Head Off Interest
Liverpool are set to offer Mo Salah a new deal worth £185,000 a week.
The Egypt international has had a sensational season since his £34million move from Roma last summer becoming the first player since Ian Rush to score more than 40 goals in a season for the Anfield club.
Salah signed a five-year deal with Liverpool that is worth around £90,000 a week. But this new contract will see him double his wages.
Real Madrid have been linked with a player who has seen his valuation increase to £200million, but Liverpool look set to head off any speculation with this huge new deal.
Critics will point to any contract merely putting off the inevitable. Philippe Coutinho signed a new deal towards the end of 2016 that saw his wages rise to around £200,000 a week. A little more than six months later he was demanding a move away from the club to Barcelona.
The Reds’ relationship with Salah and his agent appears to be in a better place than they were with Coutinho. Salah has stated publicly that he wants to remain at Anfield because Liverpool’s style of play agrees with his.
