‘No Chance’ Of De Gea Transfer
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out any exit this summer for goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Spain international has been linked with interest from Real Madrid and speculation increased this week following Keylor Navas’s error in the Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Navas is likely to be sold in the summer and De Gea is one of the names being tipped as a replacement. But when asked at a press conference ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Arsenal this weekend Mourinho insisted De Gea will not be sold.
“No chance,” said the United boss.
Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois, Roma’s Alisson Becker and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma are also being tipped as candidates to replace Navas. Courtois has even delayed talks over a new deal at Stamford Bridge as he awaits developments at the Bernabeu.
De Gea almost secured a move to Real in August 2015. However, the deal collapsed after the Bernabeu fax machine malfunctioned and Real were unable to lodge his papers on time with the Spanish FA. He then signed a new deal with Manchester United that expires at the end of next season. United have the option to extend the contract by a further year and they look almost certain to do so.
