Steven Gerrard Linked With Rangers Job

Talks Take Place Over Vacant Post

Steven Gerrard Liverpool transfer

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is being lined up as the next manager of Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Reports from Scotland today claim the Anfield great is set to replace Portugese coach Pedro Caixinha who was sacked by the Ibrox club seven months ago.

The Scottish Sun claims that Gerrard has already had talks about the vacant post. Rangers director of football Mark Allen is leading the Scottish side’s delegation and a deal is said to be close.

Rangers chairman Dave King was at Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final clash with Roma on Tuesday night.

Gerrard is currently managing the Liverpool under-18 side and any move to Ibrox would represent a big step up for him. It would also put him up against Brendan Rodgers, the former Liverpool boss who is currently in charge at Rangers’ arch-rivals Celtic.

Rangers currently lie in second place behind Celtic, 10 points adrift and with the Hoops on the verge of a seventh successive Scottish title. They will achieve that if they beat Rangers in their Old Firm clash at the weekend.
