But Emery Looks Set To Depart
Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi insists the club have not yet agreed that Thomas Tuchel will be their new coach.
Rumours over the past few weeks have suggested that the former Borussia Dortmund coach is set to succeed Unai Emery at PSG. Tuchel has been out of work since he left Dortmund at the end of last season. Emery is out of contract at the end of this campaign and he looks unlikely to receive a new deal following PSG’s failure to progress past the last 16 of the Champions League.
Tuchel has also been linked with Arsenal in the event of Arsene Wenger’s exit from the Emirates. But the Frenchman’s future remains very much up in the air with the Gunners still in contention for a Champions League spot via the Europa League.
Speaking after PSG’s victory over Monaco on Sunday night that confirmed them as champions of France, al-Khelaifi said Unai Emery was still in his post, though he hinted that the Spaniard will be leaving when his contract expires.
“Our new coach will be announced after he has signed,” al-Khelaifi said. “There’s nothing for now.
“Today we already have a coach who won 7-1 against Monaco and is now the champion of France.”
