French Striker Linked With Arsenal
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is open to a move to Arsenal this summer according to reports.
A number of outlets are seizing on a claim made by the French website Le10 Sport that Martial will only move to another Premier League club.
It is being claimed that Arsenal are now in pole position for his signature and could make a move in the summer.
Martial’s game time has fallen since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at the end of January and he hasn’t played at all since the FA Cup quarter-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on 17 March – over four weeks ago.
But in a separate report Le 10 Sport claims that Juventus are determined to land Martial and have made a fresh approach to United over the past few days.
Martial has been on Juve’s watch list for a number of years. Scouts from the Turin side watched the Frenchman when he was playing in the academy sides at Lyon. He left Lyon in 2013 and spent two seasons at Monaco before his move to Manchester United in 2015.
United are open to the sale of Martial although much depends on how Jose Mourinho evaluates his squad at the end of the season.
Arsenal Face Battle For De Ligt
Arsenal transfer target Matthijs de Ligt is wanted by Manchester City. However, both Premier League sides face competition for his signature from one of Europe’s top clubs.
Ajax central defender de Ligt was linked earlier this month with Arsenal. However, the Gunners have been joined in the race for his signature by both City and Barcelona.
Some outlets claim City are in pole position to sign the 18-year-old Netherlands international. But reports from Spain suggested earlier this week that Barcelona have already made a concrete offer to de Ligt. However, they are refusing to pay the €60million (£52million) that Ajax are demanding.
Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in de Ligt who they see as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld.
